</p><p>The <a href="RNS" title="RNS">Reticulum Network Stack</a> runs on most devices with a <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Python_(programming_language)" class="extiw external" title="wikipedia:Python (programming language)">Python 3</a> runtime. For more constrained systems, <a href="MicroReticulum" title="MicroReticulum">microReticulum</a> is a <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/C%2B%2B" class="extiw external" title="wikipedia:C++">C++</a> port designed for 32-bit <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microcontroller" class="extiw external" title="wikipedia:Microcontroller">MCUs</a> (as well as Linux <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Single-board_computer" class="extiw external" title="wikipedia:Single-board computer">SBCs</a>).<sup id="cite_ref-1" class="reference"><a href="#cite_note-1"><span class="cite-bracket">[</span>1<span class="cite-bracket">]</span></a></sup>
</p><p>Reticulum runs over <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ethernet" class="extiw external" title="wikipedia:Ethernet">Ethernet</a>, <a class="mw-selflink-fragment" href="#WiFi">WiFi</a>, <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LoRa" class="extiw external" title="wikipedia:LoRa">LoRa</a> (with <a href="RNode" title="RNode">RNode</a>), <a class="mw-selflink-fragment" href="#Packet_radio">packet radio modems</a>, <a class="mw-selflink-fragment" href="#Serial">serial lines</a>, <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bluetooth_Low_Energy" class="extiw external" title="wikipedia:Bluetooth Low Energy">BLE</a><sup id="cite_ref-2" class="reference"><a href="#cite_note-2"><span class="cite-bracket">[</span>2<span class="cite-bracket">]</span></a></sup>, and even <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/QR_code" class="extiw external" title="wikipedia:QR code">QR</a><sup id="cite_ref-3" class="reference"><a href="#cite_note-3"><span class="cite-bracket">[</span>3<span class="cite-bracket">]</span></a></sup>.

<p><a href="RNode" title="RNode">RNodes</a> are easily made from readily available development boards. They communicate with a host <a href="Instance" title="Instance">instance</a> over <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USB" class="extiw external" title="wikipedia:USB">USB</a> or <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bluetooth" class="extiw external" title="wikipedia:Bluetooth">Bluetooth</a>.
</p><p><a href="MicroReticulum" title="MicroReticulum">microReticulum</a>'s <a rel="nofollow" class="external text" href="https://github.com/attermann/microReticulum_firmware">RNode firmware</a> turns RNodes into fully self-contained Reticulum <a href="Node" title="Node">nodes</a>, eliminating the need for a host instance.

<p>Reticulum can work over WiFi-based hardware as long as it supports <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Network_bridge" class="extiw external" title="wikipedia:Network bridge">bridged</a> Ethernet over the WiFi interface, which most devices do by default or through configuration. <p>Any <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Packet_radio" class="extiw external" title="wikipedia:Packet radio">packet radio</a> modem that provides a standard <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/KISS_(amateur_radio_protocol)" class="extiw external" title="wikipedia:KISS (amateur radio protocol)">KISS</a> interface over USB, serial or TCP can be used with Reticulum.<sup id="cite_ref-5" class="reference"><a href="#cite_note-5"><span class="cite-bracket">[</span>5<span class="cite-bracket">]</span></a></sup>
